Industry Update
New Glass-Free Flat Panel Detector Now Available with Source-Ray Portable & Mobile X-ray Systems

Varex Lumen HD 4336 Glass-Free Flat Panel Detector
As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering the most robust advanced imaging solutions in the market, Source-Ray now offers the Varex Lumen HD 4336 Glass-Free Flat Panel Detector as an available option for our portable and mobile X-ray systems. Designed for today's demanding clinical environments, this next-generation detector combines exceptional image quality, enhanced durability, and faster workflow performance to help healthcare professionals deliver confident diagnoses wherever care is needed.
Unlike conventional flat panel detectors that utilize fragile glass substrates, the Lumen HD 4336 features an innovative flexible substrate architecture. This glass-free design significantly improves impact resistance, reducing one of the most common causes of detector failure while increasing long-term reliability in busy mobile & clinical environments.
At only 4.18 lbs (1.9 kg), the detector is among the lightest in its class, making it easier for technologists to position during portable examinations, especially when imaging bariatric, trauma, or immobile patients. The detector also supports patient loads up to 660 lbs, providing added confidence across a wide range of clinical applications.
Its 100-micron pixel resolution and over 15 million pixels deliver outstanding anatomical detail, helping clinicians obtain high-quality diagnostic images for orthopedic imaging, trauma, chest exams, extremities, and other high-detail studies.
The detector's industry-exclusive IP68 rating provides superior protection against dust, fluids, cleaning chemicals, and harsh mobile imaging environments. Combined with advanced WiFi 6E and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, users benefit from faster image transfer, reduced workflow interruptions, and improved operational efficiency.
The Lumen HD 4336 also introduces Lithium-Ion Supercapacitor (LIC) technology, which offers significantly longer life expectancy compared to traditional Lithium-Ion batteries. This DR panel provides over 300 exposures per charge with the ability to return to patient use after only a 15-minute recharge. This minimizes downtime and helps ensure the detector is ready whenever imaging is needed.
Whether deployed in hospitals, orthopedic clinics, urgent care centers, veterinary practices, mobile imaging providers, or forensic environments, the new glass-free detector enhances the performance of Source-Ray portable and mobile X-ray systems by delivering greater durability, faster workflows, and exceptional image quality.
